I've never understood why some pixel artists absolutely insist that the only way to make "real" pixel art is pixel-by-pixel, in MS Paint, with only the pencil tool. Anything that speeds the job up like the select tool or a Photoshop path tool is cheating to them, and some even don't like the fill tool.
Maybe they have a respect for the way the first pixel artists had to work back in the 80s, or they enjoy the challenge of those restrictions. That's fine, and I'd understand. Though that would be a lot like saying that you can't call a piece a "painting" if you painted it in Photoshop or Painter, because there was no real paint involved.
I would really love to see a change in what hard-core pixel artists' consider "real" pixel art to be, so maybe less people would feel excluded. I believe that if more people were encouraged to use different methods to pixel, then DeviantART might see better pieces of art. As it is right now a lot of people are disinterested because the hard-core artists make it sound too hard, or they aren't fond of x rule.
If anyone is willing to help me make 50x50 icons out of this for a PLZ account, let me know and I'll set something up. I'll probably edit this deviation later, and replace it with a better version. And I shall add more to my artist's comments later as well. But for now, this will have to do. -------------------------------- Used =luckylooke's stamp template. Though I had to remove the glossy layer so it would save as a GIF without messing up. Stupid color limitations!
omg thank you. <3 i don't do pixel art cuz i suuuck at it, but ohh it gets on my nerves when i hear people say that! (it "HAS" to be done in paint) so yes. xD nice stamp.
I've seen it a couple times on tutorials, only it was the exact opposite: they were all liek, "OMG MS PAINT IS SOOO RETARTED, UES FOTOSHOP MKAY?!?!?!!!!" ...either or, the people who go so far as to say that type of thing are full of idiocy. WHO CARES WHAT EVERYONE ELSE USES, let them use whatever the hell program they are MOST COMFORTABLE with. D8|
I agree! I don't care what software or technique someone uses. As long as they produce beautiful art, and don't lie about how it was made, I'm fine with it. The only time I have issues with something is when someone runs a photograph through Photoshop, calls it a painting, and says they spent hours on it. >.>; But if someone wants to use PS to do something quick, whatever. Same thing for the people who use Paint.
Though I have heard that others have an easier time with Photoshop, so I might try it next time I make a pixel art.

But, yeah. XD

God, people can be insane at times!
